Amnesty Murray Group Brings Human Rights Home

Amnesty Murray, Facebook

The Kentucky chapter of Amnesty International is holding training and advisement seminars across Kentucky, to coordinate grassroots efforts addressing human rights issues locally, nationally and abroad. Area Coordinator Jessica Evans and incoming Murray State group coordinator Ben Linzy speak with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good about some of the recent efforts of Amnesty Murray, after the recent national conference "Bringing Human Rights Home," which Evans attended.

"What spawned my interest was I went on a Murray State study abroad program over the winter, and we went to London on a Human Rights excursion. While we were there we got to visit Amnesty International's London headquarters; I had heard of Amnesty International, of course, but actually being at their headquarters and hearing them talk about the work they do, just really opened my eyes to the potential for myself and others to get involved."

Jessica Evans can be contacted at jevans15@murraystate.edu.
