Land Between the Lakes Reopening Schedule

landbetweenthelakes.us

Recent winter weather has prompted a change in the start of the 2015 spring season at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation.

LBL facilities were scheduled to open this Sunday, March 1, but last week’s heavy snow and ice falls prompted the change in openings.

LBL staff say the Golden Pond Visitor Center and Planetarium will open tomorrow, Feb 26, weather permitting.

The following attractions and facilities previously scheduled to open for the season March 1, will now open Wednesday, March 4:

  • North and South Welcome Stations
  • Woodlands Nature Station and Homeplace 1850’s Farm
  • Developed Campgrounds – Energy, Hillman Ferry, and  Piney

The Turkey Bay Vehicle Area and the Elk and Bison Prairie will remain closed until further notice.

Kentucky and Tennessee road crews have cleared most of the main roads, but many side roads were not treated and are still ice and snow packed.

Rob Canning is a native of Murray, KY, a 2015 TV Production grad of Murray State. At MSU, he served as team captain of the Murray State Rowing Club. Rob's goal is to become a screenwriter, film director or producer and looks to the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie for inspiration. He appreciates good music, mainly favoring British rock n' roll, and approves of anything with Jack White's name on it. When not studying, rowing or writing, Rob enjoys spending his free time with a book or guitar.
