Lourdes Hospital held a grand opening Sunday for the new $5 million Lourdes Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
The 10,000 square foot facility for end of life care features 10 patient suites with patios, staffed by a team of specialty-trained hospice staff.
The hospital secured a total of $7.3 million in funding for the hospice center, including a $2 million endowment fund to provide inpatient hospice care to patients, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay for treatment. More than 650 people contributed to the campaign for funding, with Ray and Kay Eckstein donating $1.5 million.
