Meet Marge, a 7-year-old rat terrier in need of a permanent home. Humane Society of Calloway County Executive Director Kathy Hodge brought Marge by WKMS and spoke with Tracy Ross on her history.
Marge is an adult dog that’s used to living at home. The Humane Society took her in after her previous owners went through a divorce; neither party could take her.
Hodge says Marge loves people, and had no issues in her previous home. She’s great on a leash, too.
Those interested in adopting Marge can call the Humane Society of Calloway County at (270) 759-1884.
Imes’ Comments on the Humane Society of the United States
In response to State Rep. Kenny Imes’ op-edthat questioned “deceptive fundraising” conducted by the Humane Society of the United States, Hodge says the county’s organization is not affiliated in any way.
She says any money given to the Humane Society of Calloway County stays in the area, and doesn’t benefit the national group.
Aftermath of a Calloway County Cockfighting Ring
Over the weekend, Kentucky State Police shut down a cockfighting ringin a building off Protemus Rd. in Lynn Grove. Hodge says 40 gamecocks -35 roosters and 5 hens- are now housed with the Humane Society.
She says this is the first time she’s had a group this large. The case remains under investigation.
