Update 5:40 - Power back on at Murray State. West Kentucky Rural Electric shows power restored in southeast Calloway County. There may still be some outages. WKRECC says their crews and Murray Electric crews worked with TVA to create a temporary fix and are working on a permanent repair.

All Murray Electric System customers as well as 6,000 West Kentucky Rural Electric customers in southeast Calloway County lost power this afternoon after the main station that feeds power to Murray went down.

Murray Electric System says a lightning strike on a main substation is the cause of the outage.

Crews are working at the station and the problem should be fixed soon if it has not sustained major damage.
