Update: the 101st has released the name of the solider killed during a live-fire training exercise Tuesday.
19-year-old Pfc. Victor J. Stanfill, an infantryman with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, "Rakkasans," was pronounced deceased 11:08am Tuesday at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital on Fort Polk.
A native of Fulton, Maryland, Standfill enlisted into the U.S. Army in September last year, completing one-station unit training at Fort Benning, Georgia as an infantryman.
His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War of Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
The Army says the accident is currently under investigation. A Centralized Accident Investigation team was dispatched to the site to determined the cause of the incident that happened May 10.

A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died Tuesday from injuries sustained during a live-fire training exercise. The incident occurred at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, Louisiana.
According to a release from Fort Campbell, soldiers and emergency services personnel transferred the soldier to Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital on the base, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The incident is under investigation and the soldier’s name is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
