Condolences are coming in for a longtime U.S. Army advocate and Congressional aide living in Hopkinsville who died this morning.
T.C. Freeman, 83, passed away at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a long illness. Freeman served 9 years as a field representative for former United States Senator Jim Bunning and worked for many years with the Kentucky Military Affairs Commission, the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation and was Chapter President of the Tennessee-Kentucky Association of the United States Army.
She was currently serving as a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army.
Kentucky U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell called Freeman a friend.
"She was a proud and longtime advocate for our nation’s military, especially Ft. Campbell and the people of Hopkinsville," wrote McConnell. "T.C. understood the importance of the men and women stationed at the Kentucky base and worked diligently to ensure that these service members and her community got the recognition they deserved.
Congressman Ed Whitfield said Freeman’s accolades are too long to list.
"T.C. was a personal friend, but more importantly, she was a friend to every man and woman who wears our Nation’s uniform," said Whitfield. "Her dedication to the United States Army endured throughout her life and her distinguished record of service to our country has left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her."
She is survived by her husband retired Colonel Bob Freeman, her three children and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4-8pm at Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral home and Sunday from 2pm until the funeral hour at First United Methodist Church.
