A Paducah man was arrested and charged Wednesday with the sexual abuse of a minor. McCracken County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint last month that 48-year-old David Averitt had sexually abused a child under the age of 12.
The child was in his residence when the abuse took place July 28.
An investigation followed, which included a detailed account by the victim, covert techniques and a discussion with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office determining probable cause.
The crime is a Class C Felony.
