The City of Paducah is holding a ceremony Friday to dedicate a riverfront roadway after a longtime city commissioner.

The road in front of Wilson Stage will be dubbed the PJ Grumley River Drive. Grumley served as a city commissioner for seven years from 1975 to 1998. Grumley also owned and operated Burger Chef restaurants from 1962 until 1988.

He also served as president of the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, Retail Merchants Association, St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Lion’s Club before his death earlier this year at the age of 90.

A bronze plaque honoring Grumley will be embedded into the roadway.

The dedication ceremony is Friday at 3 p.m. the riverfront entrance on Broadway.
