Services For Former Court Of Appeals Judge Rick Johnson Friday And Saturday

The visitation and funeral are Friday evening and Saturday for a former Kentucky Court of Appeals Judge from the region who died this week. Judge Rick Johnson of Symsonia died Tuesday at Baptist Health in Paducah.

According to the Kentucky Justice Association website, Johnson was a trial lawyer from 1979 to 1991 before serving on the Court of Appeals from 1992 to 2006. As an appellate judge, he decided more than 5,000 cases and wrote more than 1,700 opinions. He later returned to private practice.

His obituarysays he served on the Kentucky Judicial Conduct Commission.

Johnson was a longtime member of the Paducah Lions Club. He also chaired the Four Rivers Behavioral Health Board and volunteered for several organizations in Graves County and was active in the Symsonia United Methodist Church.

Johnson’s visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield. Another visitation is Saturday from Noon to 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Mayfield with the funeral service to follow.
