Mayfield Fire Chief Jeremy Creason has been awarded City Employee of the Year by Kentucky League of Cities.

According to the KLC, the award recognizes city employees in the Commonwealth who perform at a “distinguished level” to improve their local government or community.

Creason joined the Mayfield Fire Department in 2008 and led an understaffed department during the pandemic due to a COVID-related hiring freeze. The KLC said Creason found PPE for his employees and served as a community leader for guidance on staff safety precautions.

The KLC will make a local presentation to Creason during the Nov. 9 City Council meeting at Mayfield City Hall.

Fort Wright’s Mayor Dave Hatter was awarded City Official of the Year and the City of Shelbyville was awarded City Government of the Year.
