NASA introduced its newest astronauts Monday: 10 scientists, engineers and test pilots chosen from more than 8,000 applicants to help explore the moon and possibly Mars.

NASA and SpaceX plan to launch astronauts to the International Space Station on Wednesday. It'll be the first time a new kind of spacecraft has launched astronauts into orbit since the space shuttle.

After a career as a Marine pilot, Glenn was chosen as an astronaut. He was the third American in space, went on to have a successful career in politics and then returned to space on shuttle Discovery.
