Cadiz Restaurant Tax Nets $35K in July

Cadiz Tourism

A 3 percent Cadiz restaurant tax has netted nearly $35,000 dollars in its first month on the books.

The Cadiz City Council approved the tax in June, before taking effect July 1. All revenue from the restaurant tax goes to the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism and Convention Commission.

Executive Director Bill Stevens said the commission’s main focus is to relieve debt incurred from a renovation of the county’s visitor’s center. Stevens said the commission still owes about $180,000.

He said the tax money will also go toward increasing marketing efforts for the Cadiz, Trigg County and Lake Barkley area.
