Listen to "Irvin S. Cobb: Back Home" A WKMS News Documentary

Irvin S. Cobb: Back Home is the latest entry in WKMS' award-winning series of documentaries that tell the stories of our Four Rivers region.  It originally aired March 30th, 2014, marking the 70th anniversary of the passing of one of western Kentucky's most famous native sons.

His name, along with that of U.S. Vice President Alben W. Barkley, is ubiquitous throughout the region they both called home.  However, not many people today are aware of his remarkable career and his achievements in journalism, literature, the movies, and on radio.

This documentary looks at his life and his legacy, and finds that both travel in unique and unexpected directions.

Todd Hatton hails from Paducah, Kentucky, where he got into radio under the auspices of the late, great John Stewart of WKYX while a student at Paducah Community College. He also worked at WKMS in the reel-to-reel tape days of the early 1990s before running off first to San Francisco, then Orlando in search of something to do when he grew up. He received his MFA in Creative Writing at Murray State University. He vigorously resists adulthood and watches his wife, Angela Hatton, save the world one plastic bottle at a time.
