Two-time nominee for the Pushcart Prize, Esther Lee, is the author of the poetry collection Spit, which received the 2010 Elixir Press Poetry Prize. Having won many other literary awards, Lee is also Kundiman fellow. Kundiman is a national organization dedicated to the creation and cultivation of Asian American creative writing. lee' son faculty at Agness Scott College in Atlanta and reads her poetry tomorrow night (July 17) at 7:30 in the Clara Eagle Gallery of Doyle Fine Arts. Kate speaks with Dr. Lee on Sounds Good.

Spit, published in 2011 by Elixir Press is a collection of poems exploring themes of dual identities - past and present through the lens of the immigrant experience in America. Her poems weigh the balance of love and violence within the family circle and have been described as "fresh, brutal, serious, and comic" by critics.
