The Yeiser Art Center hosts an opening reception Saturday for the new exhibition, "This Land and Its People" 137 paintings by Paducah artist Clyde Lawter centered on American landscapes and the people that inhabit them. The artist laughs when he says that his paintings "will be hung salon style, floor to ceiling, bumper to bumper." Kate Lochte speaks with the artist on Sounds Good.

Clyde Lawter came to Paducah in 1963 as sales promotion manager for Bright's Department Store. He and his family thought they'd stay for five years, but they found Kentucky so beautiful they couldn't leave.
The reception is Saturday, August 9 from 5 to 7 p.m at Yeiser Art Center at 200 Broadway and Markethouse Square in Downtown Paducah. Lawter will do an informal walkthrough of the show and a painting demonstration as well.
The exhibition is on display through September 27.
