Paducah Relay For Life Hosts "Main Course" Dinner & Auction

Relay for Life of McCracken County hosts the American Cancer Society's "Main Course" event this Thursday at the Irvin Cobb Hotel Event Center. Eight local restaurants and two wineries are participating, along with music from the Paducah Jazz Ensemble Little Big Band and live and silent auctions featuring signed scripts of critically acclaimed TV shows. On Sounds Good, Kate Lochte speaks with Relay for Life Specialist Tom Dolan about the event.

Relay for Life of McCracken County recently had the biggest event in the Commonwealth, raising over $430,000 for the American Cancer Society, and the proceeds from this week's "Main Course" will add to that figure.

Restaurants participating include: Artisan Kitchen, Country Club of Paducah, Doe's Eat Place, Heavenly Cakes & Cafe, Occasions Unlimited, RistorantediFratelli and Whaler's Catch. Glisson Winery and Purple Toad Winery will serve drinks.

The Paducah Jazz Ensemble Little Big Band returns after their debut at last year's event. They play a variety of standard jazz and big band music.

The live and silent auction includes a bicycle trip around Paducah with lunch; tickets to shows and dinners; gift baskets of assorted treats; signed TV scripts from Breaking Bad and House of Cards (signed by Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright); football memorabilia signed by the Rams, Titans and Colts; jewelry, book sets and children's toys.

Proceeds benefit cancer research at statewide and national levels along with local services like the wig room - where women going through treatment can be fitted for a wig for free, "look good, feel better" classes taught by cosmetologists and the Road to Recovery program - where patients needing assistance to their medical appointments can get volunteer drivers.

The "Main Course" is at the Irvin Cobb Event Center, at 600 Broadway St., Paducah, KY 42001. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the door or ahead of time by calling 270-444-0384.
