Interested in singing? There are four community vocal groups that are seeking members for performances in the coming months. Murray State’s Dr. Brad Almquist is issuing the call to those young, and not so young to join in the fun of making music. Below are the details of the different groups and the related audition information:
The Paducah Symphony Children’s Chorus and Youth Chorus sing several concerts throughout the year and are featured with the Paducah Symphony Chorus during its Holiday concert.
Auditions continue from August 20 through September 3, 2015. Thursday, August 20th and 27th are special “invite a friend” rehearsals where young singers are invited to come and experience the chorus without commitment. Schedule your audition by calling the symphony office at (270) 444-0065 or by contacting Dr. Almquist directly at (270) 809-6448.
The Paducah Symphony Chorus is looking for interested singers who would like to
sing our “Made in America” Concert featuring hymns by American composers, the
annual Christmas concert, and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. The choir rehearses on
Sunday afternoons at Grace Episcopal Church. Contact the Symphony office or Dr. Almquist for more information.
The Murray State Town and Gown Chorale hosts an organizational rehearsal on Monday evening, August 24, 2015 in room 314 of the Price Doyle Fine Arts Building at 6:30 pm. The choir will be featured during the Murray Community Christmas Concert, December 5, 2015 in First Baptist Church. In addition the choir will sing several of the fall Department of Music Choral Concerts during the semester. All community singers are invited to attend the first rehearsal for more information. If you have any questions please contact Dr. Almquist.
