Keeneland opens its 2016 spring meet on Friday with new technologies for visitors new to the historic track. Keeneland spokeswoman Amy Gregory says the Race Day app now features a ‘bet simulator.’
“It will teach you how to bet,” she said. “It will teach you how to place a bet, what to say when you walk up to the betting window. You can calculate how much your bet might cost and how much it would pay.”
Gregory says part of Keeneland’s overall mission is to bring new fans to the sport. She says Keeneland is also offering racing-related videos on the live video streaming app, Periscope. “We’re doing a lot of videos,” she said. “We’re training in the mornings. And then in the afternoons during the race day, trying to get fans a real behind the scenes look.”
This first weekend of racing at Keeneland includes Saturday’s Bluegrass and Ashland Stakes. The spring meet runs through April 29.
