Bowling Green's National Corvette Museum Remembering Prince for "Little Red Corvette"

Tributes to the life and music of Prince are pouring in from all over the world following the pop superstar’s sudden death Thursday. Prince is being remembered in Bowling Green for a song he wrote more than 33 years ago.

The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green wasn’t built yet when Prince’s “Little Red Corvette” was released in the early 1980s. But museum spokeswoman Katie Frasenelli says the song and the building are inseparable now.

And she says there’s another irony, “'Little Red Corvette' came out in 1983 and that’s the only year that there was not Corvette available to purchase by the public."

GM was gearing up for the 1984 model which came out in mid-’83.

Frasenelli made a quick posting on the museum’s Facebook page Thursday. Since then, nearly 700 people have responded. "I mean how can you not do a post about Prince when he has a song as iconic as 'Little Red Corvette' and of course as soon as we post that you have tons of enthusiasts from all over the world sharing pictures of their litlle red Corvette."

51,000 Corvettes were produced in 1984, and nearly 13,000 of those were red.

Prince was found dead Thursday at his home in suburban Minneapolis. He was 57 years old.
