Drone Drama 'Eye in the Sky', Sci-Fi Throwback 'Midnight Special' Coming to Maiden Alley

One sheets via Bleecker Street (EITS) and Warner Bros. (MS)

Paducah's Maiden Alley Cinema is hosting two critically-acclaimed movies in the next couple weeks: Gavin Hood's drone warfare thriller Eye in the Sky and Jeff Nichols' science fiction road movie, Midnight Special. John Null caught up with MAC's film programming director John Holt to discuss the coming attractions.

Eye in the Sky stars Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren, Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul and features Alan Rickman's final onscreen performance. Rickman died earlier this year. The film is about a drone pilot who faces pressure to fire on a target in Kenya, despite potential civilian casualties. It starts at Maiden Alley on Friday, May 27 and plays through Tuesday, May 31.

Midnight Special reunites director Jeff Nichols with frequent collaborator, Oscar-nominated actor Michael Shannon. It's about a boy with mysterious powers and his father who is trying to protect him from the NSA, FBI and a religious cult that wants him back. It also stars Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, Sam Shepard and Jaeden Lieberher. Midnight Special starts at Maiden Alley on Saturday, June 4 and is playing through Tuesday, June 7.
