Oystein Baadsvik is an international tuba artist, as well as the first tuba virtuoso to have a career exclusively as a soloist. Baadsvik and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble director, Dennis Johnson, visited Sounds Good to discuss Baadsvik's upcoming performance in Lovett Auditorium.
Oystein Baadsvik began his journey as a tuba artist at the age of fifteen, and just three years later, he received first prize in a national Norwegian tubist competition. Baadsvik has since performed with multiple orchestras around the world, and thanks to his Youtube video performances, he's even developed a cult-like following in the state of Maryland. Baadsvik is also known for his master classes and tuba performances, which he takes to universities all across the globe.
Baadsvik will be performing at Lovett Auditorium tonight, February 23rd, in honor of the 71st Annual Quad State Senior High Band Festival. The performance starts at 7 pm and will also feature the MSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra. The concert is free to the public.
