A committee encouraging state government to fund the expansion of a major road in the Jackson Purchase meets with transportation officials on Wednesday.
The Highway 641 Steering Committee will discuss the status of a project to improve and widen the road south of Murray to the Tennessee border. The road is currently two-lanes.
The Purchase Area Development District, Murray Calloway Chamber of Commerce and area lawmakers have identified this project as a top priority for the region.
Transportation officials will also discuss regional projects in relation to the state SHIFT funding plan.
The public meeting is at 2 p.m. at the Murray Convention and Visitors Bureau.
