Estron Chemical Constructing R & D Facility to Keep Up with Company Growth

A Calvert City chemical company is expanding into a new five-million-dollar Research and Development Facility.

Estron Chemicals is a manufacturer and supplier to paint and coating companies. CEO Alex Scora said the expansion is going to be a “world class facility” for polymer design. He said Estron has been planning the expansion for three years because current infrastructure can’t keep up with growth.

“At this point we’ll be able to have seven to eight full-time positions just on the synthesis and polymer development side of things,” Skora said. “So this is gonna substantially improve our ability to increase our staff and to have a much larger coatings applications facility and house.”

Skora said work is underway on site preparation and foundation. Walls should start coming up late November. He said he is hoping that the expansion leads to the development of new products and will boost the company’s output. Estron broke ground September and anticipates completion by next Summer.
