A Kentucky-based media company has bought daily newspapers in Grand Haven, Michigan, and Lebanon, Tennessee.

Paxton Media Group announced Friday it bought the Grand Haven Tribune and Lebanon Democrat from Ohio-based Sandusky Newspaper Group. The price wasn't disclosed.

Sandusky Newspapers Inc. CEO David Rau says in a statement selling was "difficult" but the publications "could be better served by a larger company with more resources." He adds that Paxton is "another family company with a proven legacy and reputation."

The sale also includes weekly newspapers in Mt. Juliet and Hartsville, Tennessee.

Paxton owns newspapers in about 50 communities in the Midwest and South. Sandusky owns two newspapers in Ohio, five in Tennessee and interests in various digital operations.

Rau adds Sandusky is exploring the possibility of selling its Ohio papers.
