MHHCC Museum Gala: Juleps, Jockeys, & Jazz

MHHCC Museum Gala: Juleps, Jockeys, & Jazz

The Hopkinsville History Foundation in collaboration with the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County and with support from Planters Bank announces its second annual Museum Gala: Juleps, Jockeys, & Jazz on Saturday, September 20, 2025. This fundraising event supports the Museum and its mission to share the stories of our community through an inclusive dialogue about our history.

The theme for the evening is “Juleps, Jockeys, & Jazz.” Inspired by the 100th anniversary of a Christian County horse winning the Kentucky Derby, the gala celebrates the history of thoroughbred farms, horse races, and the 1920s in Hopkinsville and Christian County.

Here’s the twist. The museum staff has selected 9 artifacts that embody this year’s theme for a special "Create from the Collection" art experience. Use one or more of these artifacts as inspiration for a piece of artwork. The auction will take place during the gala.

Guidelines:

  • Please set a value and opening bid for your artwork. Your identified opening bid will be the starting price for bidding and the amount you receive from its sale. Any amount raised above this will go to the Museum.
    • *If you would like to donate all proceeds, please specify on the registration form.
  • Payment will be sent to you by mail.
  • Pieces can be delivered to the museum from September 9 - 13 from 10am until 4pm.
  • If your artwork is perishable, please submit a photograph of it by September 16. The actual piece can be dropped off at the Museum on Friday, September 19.
  • Please complete the 2025 Gala Artist Registration form on our website: https://www.museumsofhopkinsville.org/gala-artist-registration/
  • Feel free to think as far inside or outside the box as you’d like!
  • Submissions are subject to approval by the HHF.

All artifacts are currently on display at the Pennyroyal Area Museum. Feel free to stop by to get a closer look. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10am until 4pm. Special arrangements can be made for visits outside our operating hours. Please share this opportunity with any and all of your artist friends!

Tickets to the Museum Gala can be purchased at the Pennyroyal Area Museum or online through our Shopify store. For more information, visit our website, follow us on Facebook, or contact us at (270) 887-4270.

We hope you will support the Museum as we celebrate the art, history, and culture of Christian County on this enchanted evening.
