Paris Academy for the Arts Gallery Show Opening Reception
PAA's newest gallery show features the works of Prescott Smith, a nationally known painter and sculptor who studied with the New Orleans painter and printmaker John McGrady and the Taos-based sculptor Ted Egri. The sculptures were worked primarily in stainless steel, with faces a feature of many, and his paintings are reminiscent of Joan Miro, the Spanish Surrealist and Abstract Expressionist. Originally from New Orleans, Smith was a recent resident of Henry County. His works are included in many private collections around the world, and in modern art museums such as Centennial Art Center in Nashville, Alice Bingham Gallery in Memphis, and MOCA in Jacksonville, FL The reception will include a short talk by Dan Knowles, the curator of the show, and refreshments. The public is invited. This free show will hang through April 27.
