A Marshall County man is charged with terroristic threatening after authorities received a tip from the Central Intelligence Agency about a bomb threat at the county courthouse.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says they received an early morning call from the Threat Management Office at the CIA saying they had viewed emails from a man threatening to kill people at the courthouse and nearby senior citizens center.
Judge Executive Kevin Neal ordered the evacuation of the courthouse so that K-9 units with the Kentucky State Police searched the premises.
In the ensuing investigation, 27-year-old Austin Ford of Calvert City was charged with Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree. Authorities say Ford had sent at least 3 emails threatening to blow up the courthouse.
After police and K-9 swept both threatened facilities, they were reopened to the public.
