Authorities say a Kentucky teenager has been wounded by gunfire during an argument with his father over school attendance.
The Harlan County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that another student witnessed the incident Wednesday morning and reported it to school officials, who notified law enforcement.
The statement says an investigation found that 41-year-old Chad Cox allegedly armed himself with a rifle and threatened the boy during the argument. Authorities say the gun discharged hitting the boy in the leg. The child was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Police say Cox was charged with assault, terroristic threatening and wanton endangerment and taken to the Harlan County Detention Center. Jail records don't indicate whether he has an attorney.
