Fort Campbell Release Name Of Soldier Killed In Shooting

Fort Campbell 101st Airborne Division

The name of a Fort Campbell soldier killed earlier this week in an on-base shooting has been released. 

The U.S. Army base says Brittney Silvers, of Jacksonville, Florida was found dead after a shooting in on-post housing Sunday night. Her spouse was taken into custody.

Silvers was an automated logistical specialist in the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division. She joined the Army in 2011. She served for several years at Fort Hood, Texas before arriving to Fort Campbell in 2016. She was posthumously promoted to Sergeant and received the Army Commendation Medal.

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command and the FBI are investigating the incident.
