Kirby Gene Wallace Indicted By Grand Jury On Nine Counts

A Stewart County grand jury indicted Kirby Gene Wallace Monday on nine counts, including murder and arson.

Wallace was the suspect in a weeklong manhunt in October following the murder of Brenda Smith in Indian Mound, Tennessee. Wallace is accused of setting Smith’s house on fire after she and her husband disrupted Wallace’s alleged burglary attempt.

While on the run, Wallace allegedly held an elderly woman at knife-point and stole her car.

The counts include first degree murder, felony murder, attempted first degree murder, especially aggravated burglary, two counts of especially aggravated robbery, two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated arson.
