Murray State University's Great Beginnings brings Re'Nita Avery-Meriwether, Director of Student Life and the Curris Center, to Sounds Good. The official university welcome and orientation programs for new and returning Racers starts Wednesday, August 13 and continues through September 4.
Beginning Wednesday, August 13, 1,000 students will be coming to the Murray State University campus, mainly those involved in band, fraternity and sorority recruitment, sports and other specialized programs. On Saturday, August 16, new students move in to the residential colleges and Sunday returning students move in.
Re'Nita Avery-Meriwether outlines the many activities going on across the campus for students and parents. Some of the activities include a parent letter-writing event for incoming students - where they write letters to be given to their student one month after the semester starts. "Explore Murray" invites local businesses to campus to hand out "swag" and food to students. Sunday involves ice-breaker activities including Waterfield Wired (which WKMS will be at). The activities are designed at helping students get to know each other and get acclimated to college life.
