The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System in Tennessee is holding a forum on public school safety and security.
CMCSS will discuss safety and security measures with the Clarksville police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office. Chief Communications Officer Elise Shelton said the schools have renovated their entrances so that school visitors are led directly to the office and have to be “buzzed back” for further entry.
“We also have a system where all visitors to the school have to have their driver’s license checked,” Shelton said. It lets us know if any person visiting the school is a sexual predator.”
School resources officers are also stationed at the schools. The public forum is Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the William O. Beach Civic Hall.
