National Weather Service meteorologists say the Four Rivers region will see an extended period of arctic cold this week, with Tuesday the only day with above-freezing temperatures. The NWS says the greatest concern will come late Tuesday night through early Thursday when a strong arctic high moves in from the plains states.
This will bring high winds and temperatures in the teens with single digits in some areas. Forecasters say this combination will also drive the wind chill down to as low as five to fifteen degrees below zero on Wednesday.
Officials urge everyone to limit any outdoor activities Wednesday and Thursday and to take precautions to prevent water line damage.
