The National Weather Service in Paducah is encouraging volunteers to join the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network, or ‘CoCoRaHS'.
The network is a nonprofit agency that relies on citizen scientists to record rain, snow and hail amounts.
Every morning, volunteers will record how much fell at their location in the previous 24 hours.
The Network is looking for volunteers in west Kentucky counties that don’t have any observers, which is every county in the region with the exception of Ballard, Christian, Hopkins and Trigg.
Volunteers are required to purchase an official rain gauge and take online or classroom training.
Interested volunteers can apply at the CoCoRaHSwebsite.
