Voters in Sebree, Kentucky have decided against allowing restaurants to sell liquor by the drink with meals. The Gleaner reports that the measure on yesterday's ballot in the Webster County city failed by a 3-2 margin. The final vote was 270-180. The proposal would have allowed the sale of alcoholic beverages by the drink only in restaurants and other dining facilities, and only if they had a seating capacity of at least 50 people and derived at least 70 percent of their gross receipts from the sale of food. Drinks would have been served only in conjunction with meals. Webster County Clerk Valerie Franklin-Newell said paper ballots ran out in some precincts and electronic voting machines had to be used.
