UPDATE: Ky. Dam Village Annexation Will Be Complete Wednesday
UPDATE: Tuesday, 11:54 a.m.:
The Calvert City Council unanimously passed the ordinance to annex Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park at a specially-called budget meeting Monday night. The ordinance will be published in the paper of record Wednesday, making the park officially within Calvert City limits.
Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park could be annexed to Calvert City as soon as Wednesday, paving the way for liquor-by-the-drink sales at the park in the near future.
Calvert City Mayor Lynn Jones said the annexation will be nearly official if the city council can get to the ordinance’s second reading at Monday night's specially-called budget meeting.
“If we were to get a chance to read that second reading tonight, pass it for adoption and get it into the paper of record for this Wednesday’s paper, then Wednesday it would be officially annexed and all the issues would be resolved,” Jones said.
The ordinance’s first reading passed unanimously at the council’s June 12 budget meeting. If the city council doesn’t get to it Monday, the annexation will have to wait until the council’s next regular meeting in July.
Jones said after the annexation it would be a 45-60 day wait period before the state could approve the park for liquor-by-the-drink sales, making it a stretch for liquor sales this summer.
