Contractors have demolished the third and final span of the Old Ledbetter Bridge with explosives.
The demolition contractor has 24 hours to clear steel from the Tennessee River bottom to restore tow boat traffic. Once the river is clear of debris, work will begin to take down the four main piers that supported the 83 year old bridge that connected McCracken to Livingston County.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says the blasts will likely be delayed a few weeks to place explosives.
