Trigg County Hospital Selects New CEO

Trigg County Hospital’s board of trustees has selected John Sumner to be the hospital's new CEO.

Sumner, a Murray State University graduate, replaces former CEO Lisa Coleman who announced her resignation in January.

Board chairman Michael Gross said the board conducted a regional search with 10 candidates and decided Sumner was the best choice.

“Mr. Sumner, of course, is a long resident of Trigg County," said Gross. "He has worked for Western Kentucky State Hospital in their nursing home division, their long-term care facility. And he’s been there over 25 years, consistently had 5-star ratings which is very very impressive.”

One of Sumner's first tasks as CEO will be overseeing the opening of the hospital’s new outpatient surgical building.

Sumner starts the position May 1st.

Rob Canning is a native of Murray, KY, a 2015 TV Production grad of Murray State. At MSU, he served as team captain of the Murray State Rowing Club.
