Hopkinsville Police Department Removes K-9 For Biting Child

Hopkinsville Police Department, Facebook

The Hopkinsville Police Department has removed a K-9 from its force after it bit a child last month.

Officer Jack Lingenfelter was with K-9 "Eddie" in a field by Millbrooke Elementary School after school hours when a child ran into their sight. The K-9 bit the child, causing minor injuries. HPD announced today it removed the dog from the force and has disciplined Lingenfelter for failing to maintain control of the K-9.

Spokesman Paul Ray said HPD returned K-9 "Eddie" to the kennel from which he was purchased. Ray said the force has 4 K-9s and will eventually replace K-9 Eddie.
