Public Hearing This Thursday for Paris, Tenn. Home Loan Program

U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, portal.hud.gov

The City of Paris, Tennessee is offering empty lots to people who qualify for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s single family housing program.

The city will accept as little as $1 from qualified loan holders for the seven available lots.

The USDA’s single family housing direct program provides low-interest loans to low-income families and individuals.

Paris city manager Kim Foster calls the plan a “win/win” as it will add to the city’s tax base and provide homes to those who might not be able to afford one otherwise. Foster said she was unsure if there would be a lottery if more than seven applicants qualify.

Those interested are encouraged to attend an informational public hearing Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Paris City Hall.
