Economic development officials in Marshall County are awaiting word on whether or not a project that could bring nearly 50 jobs to the county will be approved for state financial incentives.
The Marshall County Fiscal Court has already approved a 1 percent local occupational tax for prospective employees. That will be coupled with a 4 percent state tax should the business locate in Marshall County.
Economic development director Josh Tubbs told the fiscal court at its March 15 meeting the project could end up being a $12 million capital investment, creating around 48 jobs at an average of $36,000 a year.
Tubbs couldn’t reveal the project’s details because it could affect its incentives. Those will be decided March 31 in Frankfort at a meeting of the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority.
