U.S. Senator Rand Paul is skipping the Republican National Convention next week and is instead hosting a series of town hall meetings in far western Kentucky and performing eye surgeries in Paducah.
The Republican incumbent is facing Democratic challenger Lexington Mayor Jim Gray for his U.S. Senate seat in the November election.
On Tuesday, Paul will perform pro-bono eye surgeries with Dr. Barbara Bowers at Dr. Laxmaiah Manchikanti's Ambulatory Surgery Center in Paducah.
On Wednesday, Paul will make stops in Ballard, Carlisle, Graves, Marshall and Caldwell Counties for town hall events. In a news release, Paul said he looks to "personally address Kentuckians' concerns" and share his work in the Senate.
