Lexington Mayor and U.S Senate candidate Jim Gray is joining fellow Kentucky Democratic leaders Thursday in Madisonville to discuss plans to revitalize coal communities.
Gray outlined his relief plan last week calling for more money to improve roads and technology infrastructure in eastern Kentucky.
The ailing industry is seeing a drop in production, aging plants and record low employment levels.
The event is at 1 p.m. at the Hopkins County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Gray is running against Republican incumbent Rand Paul in the race for U.S. Senate.
He is scheduled to speak at Fancy Farm Saturday, as well as his opponent Paul.
