Kentucky Republicans Scheduled to Meet in Bowling Green

Kentucky House Republicans meet today (Wednesday) in Bowling Green to discuss committee assignments for the upcoming session.

The meetings are scheduled through Friday. District Eight State representative-elect Walker Thomas says though House lawmakers have “many wants” in the short 2017 session, he says the focus will be on big issues.

“Well obviously we have some issues with the pension fund being not very well-funded so we’re gonna be addressing that. We are definitely looking at the right to work issue and that was one of my campaign promises. ”

Thomas says he also intends to co-sponsor pre-filed bills, including BR-71, which focuses on the visitation rights of grandparents and BR-298, the Real ID Bill, similar to the one Governor Bevin vetoed earlier this year. Kentucky Senate Republicans met last week in Paducah.
