Wyoming Congressman-at-large Liz Cheney is speaking at the West Kentucky Lincoln Reagan Dinner on Saturday.

Cheney is the daughter of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney. Kentucky First Congressional District GOP Chair Greg DeLancey said west Kentucky is seeing more interest in the Republican Party as new conservative candidates challenge incumbents in primaries.

“This is a brand new phase of the Republican Party with higher interest, higher registrations, more people interested in conservative values, bringing out more people to run,” DeLancey said.

DeLancey said more women are running on the Republican ticket in the state. Congressman James Comer will also speak at the event. DeLancey says Cheney and Comer will likely discuss current topics and legislation. He said he hopes attendees share the ideas discussed on the local level.

The Murray Calloway County Republican Party hosts the dinner in the Murray State University Curris Center at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $50.
