Longtime Tennessee state Democratic lawmaker Roy Herron of Dresden died on Sunday from injuries sustained in a jet ski accident.
According to The Associated Press, the Weakley County attorney had been hospitalized since July 1 following an accident on Kentucky Lake.
Herron served a combined 26 years in Tennessee’s state House and Senate. He also served two years as the state’s Democratic party chair.
