The Reign of Terror was a period of political violence during and after the French Revolution, incited by two rival factions, the Girondins and the Jacobins. Tens of thousands of "enemies of the revolution" met their fate at the guillotine. This lasted for just under a year, until a coup turned the tide and executed revolutionaries.

The Paducah Symphony Orchestra opens its season at the Carson Center Saturday night at 7:30 with a performance of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major by guest artist IlyaKaler. An exhibit titled "Excursions: Photography by Diane Eubanks & Woodworking by Harvey Johnson" opens Saturday at the Janice Mason Art Museum in Cadiz with an artist reception from 6 to 8. The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 to 4 and on Sundays from 1 to 4.
