Datebook: September 3 - Color for the Paws, Charity Golf Scramble, Beginners Chess Workshop

A fun run titled Color for the Paws is September 13 at Mike Miller County Park. Proceeds benefit the Marshall County Animal Shelter. A 1-mile timed run begins at 7:30 a.m. The Ozone Color Run for toddlers begins at 8:50, and the untimed 5K color fun run begins at 9. For more information, call (270) 527-0954. 

The Calloway County Charity Golf Scramble at the Oaks Country Club is Thursday, Sept. 18, beginning at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Kentucky Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranch. The format is a 4 person scramble. To register, visit callkyso.com.

Today’s the deadline to register for a beginning chess workshop for adults. The class meets September 8, 15, and 22 at 5:30 p.m. at Murray State University. Topics include understanding the movement of the pieces, basic techniques, and tactical themes. Dr. Wayne C. Bell is the instructor. To register, call (270) 809-3659.
