Murray State University's MFA program sponsors a Regional Writers Celebration this Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The day features concurrent poetry and prose readings and panels from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., a reception and book fair from 4:15-6:30 p.m., and a capstone reading by nonfiction writer Nicole Walker from 6:30-7:30 p.m. All events take place in the Clara Eagle Gallery and its adjacent lecture halls.
The Paducah Parks Services Department presents "The Lego Movie" Thursday at dusk at the Noble Park amphitheater. Concessions are available for purchase at the Noble Park Pool concession area. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and insect repellant.
The Friends of the Arboretum hold their annual Watermelon Bust this Thursday night from 6:30 to 8 at The Arboretum at Murray State University, located at 300 Hickory Drive. The event includes children's activities and watermelon, lemonade, and cookies. The event is free and open to the public.
